Carpet & Rugs

The time has passed when floors were covered wall to wall in cut pile carpet. Today we see carpet in stunning and beautiful textures, patterns, graphic loops and more. And say goodbye to biege! Modern carpet colors are rich, vibrant and full of life. Many of these carpets and rugs use yarn that is made from recycled carpet and plastic bottles so it's better for the environment too!

Choose nylon fiber for the best resilience and wear characteristics. Olefin's are best for colorfastness and tend to make the most economical carpets and rugs. In fact, nearly all of today's vibrant and colorful rugs are made with olefin fibers.  And choose polyester fiber for its inherent stain resistance. Polyester tends to wear well also, but not as well as nylon carpets. And best of all for the environment,, nearly 100% of the polyester fiber used in carpet comes from recycled plastic bottles.

Stain resistance is important, especially for families with kids and pets. You'll find most nylon & olefin carpets treated with Scotchgard for stain resistance. Scotchgard is topically applied and will need to be reapplied at least every second shampooing. Today we are seeing solution applied stain guard systems like Shaw's R2X that maintain their original stain resistance for 10 or more years.
